Hairy moment for ICAEW
Now everyone knows that the ICAEW are sticklers for discipline, decorum and attention to detail, but even the best of us are prone to the odd slip-up....
The venerable institute was laying down the law in publishing its latest tribunal decisions but some of the wind might have been taken out of its disciplinary sails by this gem of a typo.
According to the Institute, one particular unfortunate was 'convicted on three counts of acting with intent to prejudice Her Majesty the Queen and the Pubic Revenue with intent to defraud her Majesty the Queen.
' Now TS is thinking that if the particular individual in question was still a member of the institute, he would have been horsewhipped from the grounds of the ICAEW before having his vintage top hat knocked through on the steps of whichever gentleman's club he belonged to.
Fortunately, it was proved to be a spelling error, so he 'escaped' with a £25,000 fine.
