KPMG stages event

Shakespeare TS is more convinced than ever that inside every accountant lies a burning desire to burst forth into song and soliloquy.
This long-held conviction was cemented when we found out about KPMG’s debut stage production taking place this week, with its version of the bard’s Much Ado About Nothing.
Some speculate about which partners fancy themselves feisty enough to step into the hose of Benedick of Padua.
Is there a partner fair enough to play the virtuous hero? TS has often wondered why firms would tread the boards via such a society. Why not a rowing club, or a fencing group?
Perhaps it is to satisfy the inner stage lustings of those who otherwise meander through their lives in dull grey suits.

Then again, maybe for KPMG it just wants to compete with PwC which already has its own well established annual panto.
Surely KPMG could try something else, something new and novel, and maybe even, cool!
TS thinks the stage act is really tired already . . . soooo last season. They should try bike riding instead, we hear the tour is short of a few riders.

They're pretty good though! I recommend watching a show!

Yes agreed, watch it, as I would prefer to talented individuals doing shakespeare rather watching santa in the annual christmas panto. Well done KPMG!

I'd thoroughly recommend it!!! Great show VERY well received!!

As a cast member I'd like to thank Taking Stock for the publicity, even if the sport-hound writing the column clearly hasn't a clue what they're talking about.

There are only a few tickets left for Friday and Saturday, so come along to the Bridewell Theatre for a 7.45pm start and an enjoyable evening.

Did your reviewer actually watch the show? It was tremendous fun, full of energy and the audience loved it

It's about fun and good spirit. Loved the cartoon, very funny and taken in the right spirit. What’s wrong with a few pro-active professional people staging a play that also helps charity?

Come on, don’t be so biting and get in the spirit of things!

The PWC pantomime indeed should be fun and good luck to them, I may attend!

I doubt that two of the largest international, professional and reputable firms will compete on the basis of their extra- curricular activities, you know better that!

Oh i don't know James, the firms'll compete on anything, in our experience!

On a more serious note, TS was not reviewing the show, merely hyping it up in a mischevious manner. As a regular attendee at the PwC Panto one would expect nothing less than a top gig from KPMG.

TS hopes to see the show ASAP. Ta for your comments.

Oh by the way did you all see Colin practising his lines for your show? See his 'stage show' at http://takingstock.accountancyage.com/2007/08/colins-amateur-.html

I saw it. Quite good. As for the article, free speech is a right which should be exercised, although prepare to be challenged. TS - always a good read and great cartoon!
I think our profession is in good shape, we are not dull suits but pro-active, fun loving, hard working people who are more than bean counters. Social responsibility, a commitment to the arts and sport (KPMG won the world corporate games) and a commitment to excellence. Wonderful virtues.

My thanks as well for the publicity!

Why snub the arts when it's just as valid means of letting off steam as sport is? If you actually saw the show, you'd know that at least KPMG's brand of acting certainly requires every bit as much physical stamina as athletics!

Cheers!
