It is very dificult to work out how to respnd to a particular TS item but here goes.

Interesting that the Taxman in Leeds melting pot item mentioned Pret a Manger, All their cash machines have a sticker that says that they are legally obliged to charge VAT on takeaways. I am not sure that this is the case - they are legally obliged to account for VAT but could chose to bear it. I have raised this with Pret and got an email from an assistant deputy controller (or somesuch) to the effect that everyone knows that VAT is added.

It still offends me whenever I go to Pret and a definitive answer would be interesting.
